:: while I'm watching the Phillies win the first of four games...

I thought I would write a little about what we're up to.

The kids are asleep, and I'm watching the World Series. By myself. Yep, I'm weird like that. :) (Dan's out in the garage, working on some project. He's not a sports guy-- which 90% of the time I love-- but I mean, come on. It's the freaking WORLD SERIES!) And since my home team the Cardinals flubbed, I'm a loyal Phillies phan. And by the way... all the Yankees fans around here are drivin' me nuts. I mean, what is that all about anyway? Last time I checked, we live in PENNSYLVANIA, folks. Those New York players are overpaid and way too full of themselves... um, Mr. A-Rod-I-Dated-Madonna?? Cut me a break.

ANYWAY, before I tick off half my friends reading this, I'll move along to a less controversial topic. :)

Can I just say that I love facebook? As a stay-at-home mom, I feel like I get all my adult interaction over fb. It's great! I'm currently playing several scrabble games, and have gotten back in touch with lots of old friends. I'm actually meeting my best friend in 8th grade (whom I haven't seen since 8th grade!) for coffee at Barnes & Noble on Sunday night. I'm super excited. Thank you facebook! :)

And speaking of Barnes and Noble... Dan got me the amazon Kindle for our anniversary last month. And when amazon dropped the price on it less than a month later, I (of course) sent it back for the less-expensive model. But then (this gets so much better!) B&N released the news about their nook, due out the end of November. After reading a bunch of reviews, I've decided to return this kindle, and get the nook instead. I feel kind of bad, but after fairly extensive "research" I feel like the nook is a better choice. I'll let you know how I like it.. it doesn't ship till the end of November.

We are driving to STL for New Year's. Last year we took our Wii, and the adults played some couples tennis on a few nights. It was fun. Tonight I was talking to my MIL and she mentioned us bringing it again, which brings me to a major source of irritation to me since our move in April. We lost our Wii. Somehow, in the 2 measly miles (and hundreds of boxes) between our old house and new, the Wii is gone. And yeah, we could just buy another one, but I am just annoyed that we actually lost the old one-- and in such an improbable manner! The only boxes left to unpack are our Christmas ones, and I am holding out a distant hope that somehow the Wii got stuck in with the ornaments... or something. If not, it's really over. We really. did. lose. a. Wii. Without really going anywhere much at all. *sigh*

I continue to be pleasantly surprised at how much I love home schooling Will. He is reading so well, and is such a bright, eager learner. Science experiments are (of course) the highlight of his week, and yesterday, (since we've been studying cells) we made square (plant) and round (animal) Jello cells (complete with a cherry tomato nucleus, and raisin organelles :)) He checked on them hardening in the fridge all morning, and after lunch, dissected them. He made me laugh out loud when he pulled the tomato out, popped it in his mouth and announced, "Mommy, I just ate a nucleus!"

We are about 6-7 months away from finding out who our little girl is gonna be. I tell myself I'm only 2 months "pregnant" and I need to relax. :) The wait is so hard, but I know it's gonna be sooo worth it. We just can't wait to get our baby girl home!

Well. My laptop battery is dying, and the Phillies are winning. Looks like I'll be sleeping well tonight. I thoughtlessly drank two cups of coffee last night (with Bailey's... is that bad? ;)) and couldn't sleep till after 2 am. I felt pretty good today for going off 4.5 hrs. of sleep though.

That's all for now! Maybe I'll see you here again in game 2. :)
